Split Ends and hair growth?

Ok. Our hair grows from the roots out, not from the ends. So, why do people say that you have to cut the split ends to make your grow more?

this is true doll biut getting rid of split ends just makes it look better and healthier; brushing it is what makes it grow because you get the circulation flowing in the scalp"i'ma hairdresser it is funny the things ppl say just because .i hope it helps

They do?...Anyway I do think monthly trims are good for your hair, so the split ends won't travel up the hair shaft and cuz alot of breakage!.

It makes your hair *look* healthier and even longer if you keep the split ends trimmed. Also, if your hair is breaking off at the ends, then it will seem to take longer to grow it out.

But, you are right, hair grows from the root and not from the ends.

its a complete myth i think some people think that by keeping your hair healthy and getting rid of the split ends it will somehow make it grow faster but its not true at all. the only thing it will do is stop the split from spreading up your hair and making you cut all of the split ends off. i dont know where that myth came from.
