My hair is thick and doesn't naturally grow downwards (it grows outwards) and I'm looking for a few tips on how to grow your hair downwards.

Yes, there are lots of things that can maximize the potential of your hair growing cycle but it is absolute folly to imagine that you can go to bed one night with shoulder length hair and the next day wake up with a new inch of growth.

There are some very rare exceptions, but most hair on most people is genetically programmed to grow a maximum of 6 inches a year.

There are some people like Crystal Gayle who obviously grow hair at a much faster rate than the average human soul. However, she is definitely the exception and not the rule.

After chemo, yes.

After radiation to the head, unlikely.

In pattern baldness ... debatable.

There are other reasons for baldness too. Some of them are more readily treatable.

Best thing is to learn to love it. Shave the rest of your head, and be a proud bald man. Some women find that attractive. Biggest part is the confidence.

hile treating alopecia, make a concoction of essential oils as follows:

Take 3 drops of each of Rosemary and lavender, 2 drops of each of thyme and Atlas cedar wood. You will also need 4 teaspoons Grape seed oil and 闄?teaspoon Jojoba oil as carrier oils. Mix them together well in a glass vessel. Now add carrier oils to the vessel and mix the combination well. Rub this mixture for at least two minutes. After massaging, wrap your scalp with a warm towel. Repeat this process each night for faster and excellent results.

Grapefruit, Bay, Lemon, Ylang Ylang and Roman Chamomile are the other essential oils that are beneficial in hair loss treatment.

Hi There,

Hair re-growth without a transplantation surgery is possible but likely. Or rather, it's more difficult to do effectively. Aside from restoration surgery your best options to regrow lost hair are Propecia and Rogaine (or Minoxidil). Propecia is proven to prevent your hair from falling out and Rogaine is proven to prevent hair from falling out and in some cases - regrow lost hair. That said, Rogaine has to be applied daily and their are some side effects; Propecia on the other hand has a plethora of potential side effects.

My hair grows sooo slow!! I just cut my hair and don't like it! Our local vitamin store has those pills, but I don't want to take them and sprout a mustach or something!!

That's a good question, I was looking into them also because the same thing happened to me with cutting it to short. I found this really good pill online( I can't remember the name at the moment), but it was alot of money. I'm pretty sure that would work better then something bought in a store. But I could be wrong, you should ask your doctor.

I am not sure about the ones at the vitamin store, but prenatal vitamins made my hair and nails grow fast and strong. i did not see any hair growth anywhere i should not have it either.

Ok, I am 23 years old female and for the last 4 years I have a very short hairstyle. (A pixie style hair cut) Now, I am growing it out how many months should it take to go from pixie to shoulder length?

Also, I have a very round and kinda non gender-specific face. People online have mistaken me for a very pretty boy. My hair is thick and brown. What styles do you suggest to make me look more feminine?

Well normal hair growth is 1/2 an inch a month so it will take awhile to get to your shoulders unless it grows faster than normal. It will go through that aw full stage ( if it isn't already) were you'll feel like you can't do anything with it.Just hang in there and get it trimmed and maybe keep it wispy and fringed around your face to show that you are a female and keep the back trimmed short until the rest of your hair can move down but not so short it looks like a mans cut. Okay, well, everyone's hair grows at different rates, so the thing to do is to have a goal in mind, and remember to get a trim every six to eight weeks, since you're growing it out. The trimming will keep your hair healthier, and avoid the "in-between stages frustration and hack job". If you have a good stylist, they will have some good advice and know your hair better than any stranger, and will help you grow it out to best suit your face shape and lifestyle.

It will probably take up to a year to grow your hair shoulder length. As for cut, something with layers because your hair is thick. What I suggest is go to a salon and ask a stylist (with a cut you like) what she thinks would look good on your face. They are trained to have an eye for those kinda things. The reason for picking a person with a cut you like is that you two probably have the same taste.
